Success is something that has been a hallmark of the Crusaders. This mighty team from New Zealand has become renown for being a reliable producer of All Blacks, in fact on average one in three make it to this level from the Crusaders stable!
In a competition that has been running for 20 years, the Crusaders have developed a winning culture by snapping up a record seven titles in Super Rugby and have produced world-class players such as Richie McCaw, Dan Carter and Kieran Read.
Since 2008 the Crusaders International High Performance Unit (IHPU) has been running a player and coach development programme for aspiring rugby professionals from outside New Zealand.
The IHPU is located in Christchurch – the heart of rugby in New Zealand. The IHPU offers high performance programmes that enhance players, coaches and teams to perform to their potential and at the highest level.
There are a number of different programmes on offer where players and coaches are fully immersed in our rugby environment. Individual guidelines are developed and implemented for each player and coach so that success on the field can be achieved consistently. In recent years the “Elite” programme has been on offer and has produced some outstanding outcomes. Five players who have had the Crusaders IHPU experience were outstanding contributors at the recently held Rugby World Cup in 2015.
2016 will see the IHPU offer a new player development programme called “Work, Train and Play”. In partnership with Canstaff, the Crusaders IHPU is offering the opportunity for rugby players to come and work in New Zealand whilst being part of our unique International Rugby programme
Players will be placed into a job, aligned with a suitable club and be given an experience in our high performance programme that allows the individual to balance all of their commitments to ensure their experience is truly memorable - all while seeing our beautiful country!
The IHPU would like to invite you to join our unique rugby programme where individuals are able to gain an insight into our professional environment. Don't miss your chance to live and breathe the game in the hotbed of world Rugby – Christchurch, New Zealand!
