Electric Motor Rewinder

Carry out the rewind of form-wound electric motors from start to finish. The ability to rewind without assistance from other staff is essential. A full-time, permanent role with an attractive remuneration package and relocation assistance is on offer for the right person.


We’re looking for a fully competent electric motor rewinder to take charge of repairs for our client in Perth.

 

About Our Client

Our client operates a large Electrical and Mechanical Workshop in Perth, Western Australia. Their projects include servicing and repairing electric motors for some of the largest mining operations in the state.

About the Role

You’ll be the leading hand, responsible for carrying out the rewind of various form-wound electric motors from start to finish without assistance from other staff. Typically, you’ll be working on 3.3kV, 6.6kV, and 11kV motors from the mining industry. 

When required, you’ll be involved in training other staff in the various aspects of repairing and overhauling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, repair, overhaul, and reassemble electric motors and generators
  • Remove sample coils from damaged high-voltage motors
  • Tape, solder and make high-voltage coil connections
  • Take accurate measurements for the manufacture of replacement coils
  • Use electrical and mechanical measuring and testing equipment to check the integrity of the motor
  • Wind high-voltage electric motors

 

About You

You’re fully capable of using workshop equipment and paying particular attention to workplace health and safety regarding yourself and other staff members.

Your attention to detail is impeccable, and you’re willing to learn as well as teach others new methods whenever possible.

Essential Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in the rewind of form-wound electric motors
  • The ability to lead and carry out rewind of 3.3kV, 6.6kV, and 11kV motors independently without assistance from other staff
  • Able to accurately collect winding data off a damaged motor
