Production Manager

Our client is a manufacturing business based in Sydney specialising in CNC machining with a high reputation in the Australian industry. They produce quality custom components through machining and milling on precision multi- axis CNC Lathes. 

The main objective of this role is to take full responsibility for the whole operations process, maximise efficiency and productivity whilst ensuring that quality standards are met. The purpose of this role is to relieve the current owners of the company from all operations related task.

Key Responsibilities & Duties, there are 3 main objectives:

Coordinating Labour

  • Making sure there is no idle labour and individuals are performing to high level.
  • Jobs being completed in order of priority.
  • Jobs given to individuals based on their skill sets and capabilities.
  • Coordinating labour demand and times to ensure CNC machines run efficiently and outcomes are achieved

Deadlines being met on jobs whilst maintaining high quality

  • This involves making sure specific due dates requested from customers are fulfilled on time or before.
  • Working collaboratively with the sales team to ensure customer lead times are fulfilled.
  • Overseeing any special customer request such as finishes or process to parts are achieved.
  • If there are any urgent deadlines for a job, make sure the whole production team is aware.

 

Machine Downtime

  • Responsible for making sure CNC machines are running constantly with minimal downtime.
  • Ensure that machines are set and jobs will run through the night. This also involves making sure there is
  • sufficient material cut and loaded on machines to maximise efficiency and running time.

About you

Experience in the manufacturing industry with relevant knowledge and expertise

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an operations management role

• Knowledge and experience using: Doosan CNC lathe machines, Fanuc controls

• Managing production teams of 10 or more people at the one time

• Running/Managing a machine workshop with multiple CNC lathe machines

• Understanding the importance of Quality Management of machined components being manufactured

• Interpreting drawings and using measuring equipment to check tolerances on parts

• Experience with high volume production runs on CNC machines (50 – 1,000+ of the same part being produced)

• Scheduling jobs on CNC machines, estimating running and set up times to minimise downtime
