Frame and Truss Detailer Position
The Frame and Truss Detailer will be responsible for accurately translating architectural and engineering plans into detailed, precise manufacturing drawings and cutting lists for timber wall frames, roof trusses, and floor systems, including cassette floors and prefabricated wall cladding.
This role is fundamental to the efficient and structurally sound fabrication of our products, ensuring compliance with all relevant building codes, standards, and engineering specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Detailing
Interpret Plans: Read and accurately interpret architectural and structural engineering blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
Produce Detailed Drawings: Use specialized industry software Pryda (e.g., Pryda, Mitek or similar program ) to design and detail all required timber frames, roof trusses, and flooring systems.
Generate Manufacturing Outputs: Create accurate cutting lists, layout plans, material lists, and bracing details for the production factory.
Optimize Design: Review designs to optimize timber usage, identify cost reduction opportunities, and ensure efficient, constructible solutions.
Apply Engineering Principles: Ensure all designs comply with structural engineering specifications, local building codes, and industry standards.
Collaboration and Communication
Liaise with Stakeholders: Communicate effectively with clients, builders, designated sales representatives architects, and engineers to resolve design discrepancies, clarify specifications, and provide technical advice.
Internal Coordination: Collaborate closely with the Estimating, Sales, and Production teams to ensure a smooth workflow from quoting to fabrication and delivery.
Problem-Solving: Proactively identify potential issues in plans (e.g., clearance conflicts, structural integrity) and propose effective, timely solutions.
Quality and Compliance
Accuracy Check: Perform thorough self-checks on all designs and outputs for accuracy before submission to the factory.
Document Control: Maintain well-organized electronic files and project documentation.
Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry technology, products, building codes, and construction techniques.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education and Experience
Minimum Experience: 2+ years of proven experience in frame and truss detailing, timber systems design, or a related construction/design field.
Software Proficiency: Highly proficient in industry-standard frame and truss design software (e.g. Pryda ,MiTek or similar ).
Qualifications (Desirable): A qualification in Timber Systems Design, Carpentry, Architectural Technology, or a relevant trade certificate is highly desirable.
Construction Knowledge: Strong understanding of residential and/or commercial construction practices, building materials, and on-site assembly processes.

Working Conditions
This role is primarily office-based, utilizing computer-aided design software, ie. Pryda
May occasionally require site visits or factory floor interaction.
Standard working hours, with the potential for occasional overtime based on project demands.
