Mechanical Estimator – Wellington
Location: Wellington Region
Pay Rate: Competitive, negotiable based on experience
Employment Type: Permanent, full-time
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join a well-established and growing mechanical services contractor based in the Wellington region. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong estimating capability who enjoys working on a variety of commercial and industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate mechanical estimates for commercial and industrial projects
- Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
- Conduct take-offs and build cost plans, budgets, and pricing schedules
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing
- Assist with tender submissions and value engineering solutions
- Work closely with project managers and engineering teams
Duties:
- Mechanical services estimating including HVAC, pipework, ducting, and plant
- Review scope, identify risks, and provide cost-effective alternatives
- Maintain estimating databases and pricing schedules
- Support project handover from tender to delivery phase
- Ensure estimates align with client and contract requirements
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator or in a similar role
- Background in mechanical services, HVAC, or building services
- Strong understanding of construction methods and tender processes
- High attention to detail with strong analytical skills
- Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively
Education & Qualifications:
- Trade or tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or similar
- Estimating or QS experience within mechanical services
- NZ industry experience preferred
