- Read and interpret structural and engineering drawings, specifications and fabrication details.
- Measure, mark out, cut, drill, prepare and assemble structural steel components.
- Fit and prepare steel components for assembly and installation.
- Check levels, measurements, plumb, alignment and positioning against drawings and specifications.
- Carry out modifications, repairs and adjustments to structural steelwork as required.
- Use hand tools, power tools, fabrication machinery and lifting equipment safely.
- Carry out welding where required as part of the fabrication and installation process.
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship and follow all health and safety requirements.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a fabrication/construction team.
What we are looking for
- Minimum 3 years' experience in structural steel fabrication.
- Strong practical understanding of structural steel fabrication and assembly.
- Experience working from structural and engineering drawings.
- Ability to accurately measure, mark out, cut, drill, fit and assemble structural steel.
- Rigging and lifting experience is desirable.
- Welding experience is beneficial, but this is not primarily a welding role.
- Ability to work confidently in both a workshop.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Strong health and safety awareness.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow project specifications and drawings.
The ideal candidate
The ideal candidate is someone who considers themselves a structural steel fabricator first, with strong hands-on experience in measuring, cutting, drilling, fitting and assembling structural steel.
If you have strong structural steel fabrication experience and are looking for a role where your fabrication skills are the priority, we would like to hear from you.
