Position Summary
Performs routine manual tasks to support qualified tradespersons and supervisors with bricklaying, concreting, carpentry, roofing, flooring, plastering, painting, glazing, plumbing, drainage, and pipe installation work.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Load, unload, move, and store construction materials, tools, and equipment around worksites.

Prepare and clean work areas before, during, and after construction activities.

Dig trenches, holes, and foundations using hand tools and assist with site excavation and levelling.

Spread and level soil, gravel, sand, and other materials on roads, driveways, trenches, and construction sites.

Mix, pour, and spread concrete, mortar, plaster, and other construction materials under supervision.

Assist tradespersons with bricklaying, concreting, carpentry, roofing, flooring, plastering, painting, glazing, plumbing, drainage, and pipe installation work.

Assist with assembling and installing pipes, valves, fittings, drainage components, toilets, basins, sprinkler systems, and other fixtures as directed.

Assist in maintaining stormwater, drainage, and sewerage systems, including cleaning drains and removing debris.

Carry out basic inspection and cleaning of drains, channels, and construction areas and report defects to supervisors.

Erect and dismantle temporary site structures such as barricades, fencing, and scaffolding components under supervision.

Measure, cut, bend, tie, fix, secure, reinforcing bar, mesh and concrete products in forms and secure steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms, using fasteners, rod-bending machines, blowtorches, or hand tools.

Install and assemble the air pathways for heating, cooling, and ventilation systems

Operate basic hand and power tools in accordance with workplace procedures.

Remove rubble, waste materials, and surplus construction materials from worksites.

Follow all workplace health and safety procedures, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Perform other routine labouring duties as directed by supervisors.
Skills and Experience
-
Previous 12 months experience in the construction industry.

Ability to perform physically demanding manual work.

Ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team.

Basic understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.

Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools.

Reliable, punctual, and willing to work in outdoor environments.
Reporting
The Construction Labourer reports to the Site Supervisor or Leading Hand and performs duties under general supervision in accordance with established work procedures.
