Health and Safety Advisor

This position is with an Advisory company that has Health and Safety and HR teams based in Christchurch, Timaru, and Ashburton. They deliver practical solutions to meet the requirements of Health and Safety Legislation and Best Practice for employers in South Canterbury and beyond. Their experience spans many industries including Agriculture, Fishing, Construction, Horticulture, Manufacturing, Not for Profit, Hospitality, Tourism, Sporting and more

The team has recently expanded and we are looking for someone with Health and Safety expertise who is also comfortable in a sales environment as you engage in conversations with local businesses for every step of their health and safety journey.

Key accountabilities

You will be a highly motivated and engaging advisor who has previous experience supporting the development and implementation of health and safety programs and initiatives.

Traveling to Client sites each day to assess Health and Safety needs and practices you will have the opportunity to identify where we can add value. You will also be building relationships and developing a reputation as the subject matter expert.

To be successful in the role you will need to have:

• A Tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety

• Demonstrated experience working within various health and safety environments

• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

• Organisation savvy with exceptionally effective time management strategies

• Incident investigation experience

• Strong knowledge and working experience in high-risk safety environments

• Proficient use of associated software and Customer Relations Management would be an advantage

• Experience delivering safety related presentations and training to business owners and employees

• Full, unrestricted NZ driving license
