Heavy Diesel Mechanic

Our client is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team working on heavy and commercial vehicles. This is a hands on role for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship and safety.

Our client has over two decades in the heavy industry sector from hydraulics and heavy diesel to machining, fabrication, field service, and project delivery. You will be part of a team that values quality, consistency, and delivering results that build our reputation.

Key responsibilities

Scheduled servicing of heavy and commercial vehicles

  • Repairs to braking and steering systems
  • Overhaul, rebuild, and repair of modern diesel engines, transmissions, and drivetrains
  • COF / VCA preparation
  • Diagnostic fault finding
  • General industry?related mechanical tasks
  • Crane service and repair experience will be an advantage
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe work environment

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Diesel Technician (Level 4 or equivalent)
  • Minimum Class 1 clean driver’s licence (willing to progress to Class 4/5)
  • Strong diagnostic and problem?solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Strong commitment to health and safety
  • Own well?equipped toolbox
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Operations

  • Provide technical support both on site and in house
  • Ensure jobs are completed on time, on budget, and to quality standards
  • Identify improvement opportunities across systems, processes, and performance
  • Build strong customer relationships and identify additional work opportunities
  • Monitor productivity and chargeability targets
  • Ensure timely job closure and invoicing
  • Maintain accurate reporting and documentation

Customer Focus

  • Deliver consistent, high-quality service aligned to customer expectations
  • Manage scope changes and ensure clear communication with clients
  • Support your team to build strong, professional customer relationships

About you

  • Strong heavy diesel experience and field service experience
  • Hands on, practical approach with solid technical capability
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Additional Information

  • A pre-employment drug and alcohol test is required
  • Immediate start available, or negotiable for the right candidate
